In just a couple of short weeks I will begin working a regular schedule again until April 15th. Soon my days will be filled with trying not to think about capital gains, itemized deductions, and depreciation and yet that is exactly what my evenings will consist of.
I had a nice lunch with my co workers yesterday and also had a meeting with the partner located in our office. I guess I got a promotion of sorts. Not in title, but in responsibility and pay.
I'm excited to see my co workers on a more regular basis since I will be able to get into the office a few afternoons a week instead of doing all of my work after "normal" business hours.
Best wishes in 2009!!

Funny story about Husband.
So we were watching a football game a couple of weeks ago. Not sure what game but it was on either NBC or ESPN because it was in HD. It was commercial time and for some reason Husband didn't start flipping channels as he is known to do (I swear he has television ADD). A Cialis commercial comes on (if you don't know what Cialis is, google it ;) ) and outloud husband says, "I wonder why they show this commercial in ED?" I just looked at him and asked, "did you really just say ED?" And then we both just busted out laughing. Heck, I bust out laughing just thinking about it. lol

Remind me again of the benefits of living in ND?
Seriously...It is December 16th(so technically not even winter yet) and we have had 2 huge storms. I don't remember the last time I saw this much snow piled on the streets. And to add insult to injury, the temperature has not gone above zero in I am not sure how many days. Boy, is it going to be a loooooong winter.
I know, I know...I can move. But really, we all know I am not going to do that. I have lived here my whole life(except for the 3 years my family lived in Montana), not likely that I will leave. :)
Too bad we didn't take our vacation this week instead of coming home just before this all hit.

One more before I attempt to pack
This is "You know it is Christmas time when..."
You know it is Christmas time when the infamous "leg lamp" from A Christmas Story is up in a front window on Washington Street. :)

Vacation Time!
I just started this and now I have to leave it for a week or so. We are headed on a fun-filled family vacation tomorrow. We will be back next week and I am sure I will have quite a few stories to share.
I am rushing around like a chicken with my head cut off today. (And believe me, I have been to a farm on butchering day) :) I just want to be sure that we have everything we need. The weather is sort of iffy so packing is kind of hard. We will just have to make do with what we have.
Our plane leaves at 4:32am. May the Good Lord help us all!!

I made it. And an interesting story.
Well Thanksgiving is now over. We had a wonderful day. It was loud and fun and everything it was supposed to be, complete with the 1st annual Turkey Day Talent show. I hope that everyone else had a wonderful day as well.
Now for the story.
This was the only "sad" part of our day.
My Nana passed away in February of 2005. Since then every year at Thanksgiving and Christmas for some reason there has always been an extra plate set. No matter how many times the number gets counted, one place is always empty. My Papa passed away at the end of August of this year. This year there was no extra place setting. So strange. This of course made us all quite down and shed some tears. They were good tears though because now Nana and Papa are celebrating together.

I'm TIRED
Here I sit at 2:30am on Thanksgiving day and I am typing on the computer and surfing the internet. I am so tired that I can't sleep. Does that make any sense to anyone? Goodness. I should be doing something productive, like make the salad or the cookies for tomorrow, but that would probably wake up the entire house.
I already watched my last 2 dvr'd episodes of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. (Love that show ;) ) The only things I have left on dvr are 5 episodes of Grey's but I just don't know if I can commit to watching one of those.
Part of me is not really excited for the family gathering tomorrow. I am probably way over thinking the whole thing. It won't be the same though. While I will be with my husband and the Boy and the Girl, as well as a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins, my parents and siblings will be gathered in Wisconsin at my sister's home. I am very thankful that we have other family in the immediate area so we aren't spending the day alone.
Suppose I should try this going to bed thing again. G'nite!

Things I am thankful for
Tis that time of year. My good friend is posting something she is thankful for everyday this week. I guess I will copy her because I am just like that. ;) AND...I will do 2 today since I didn't yesterday.
Monday's:
I am thankful for my husband. I may complain about him a lot but I really did get very very lucky in the husband department. He cooks and cleans and doesn't complain (too much) when he has to take the kids for a while so I can get some stuff done. In fact in the spring he does most of the supper cooking, cleaning and the evening routine of baths and bedtime with the kids while I am at the office.
Today's:
I am thankful for my friends. I don't have many but the ones I have are priceless. They make me laugh and they make me cry. They help out more than I can ever repay them for. I even have some friends that I have never met in real life but it feels as if we have known each other forever.
Stay tuned for more....

A little nervous
We have a big family vacation coming up and to put it mildly, I am just a little bit nervous. My biggest worry is the flying. The Boy and the Girl have never flown before. I have never flown with children before. To top it all off...our first flight is at 4:30AM. Yep, that's right...AM. Pretty sure the Husband and I won't go to bed at all that night. Well, maybe he will. ;) I am going to be too worried about the bags and making sure everything is packed and then wondering how the kids are going to deal with the air pressure changes and their ears. Ugh. Then my worst fear is that when we get to our destination our hotel room won't be ready so we won't be able to take much needed naps.
The Husband and I are very very excited though. The last time we took this vacation we went without kids and it just didn't feel right to us so we decided to take the kids with us this time. We are down to 9 days!!! YIPPEE!!
